Disaster (again!!).  It's just not my year is it !

I'm off the road again and the X-Max is in a sorry state.  Set out to visit my sister in the Borders village of Stow on Sunday 29th July.  Weather perfect, I'd studied the route carefully as the road is quite twisty, and left early in the morning to avoid the traffic.  Got to just outside a village called Heriot, misjudged a corner, and ran right off the road into a grassy verge.

Got up straight away, shaken and in a bit of pain.  The bike was a real mess.  Although a number of cars and bikers happily drove past me without having the decency to stop and see if I was OK, after a few minutes a gem of a guy on a sports bike pulled over.  He gave me a run the last ten miles to my sisters house (first time I've ridden pillion).  Her husband drove along to check the bike out and another kindly borders soul passing with a van offered to drop the bike off.

A visit to the Borders General Hospital  revealed two broken ribs but nothing more serious.

The only "lucky" thing to come out of this is that for the first time I had fully comprehensive insurance so the bike will either be repaired (doubtful as the damage looks expensive) or I'll get most of my money back.

At the moment I'm not sure where I go from here in a scootering sense.  My initial reaction was just to forget the whole thing, but biking must be in my blood and at some point I'd like to get back to it.  If and when this will be depends on the speed of the insurance company and how this latest misadventure affects my insurance premiums, if they go too high then it might not be viable.

The most depressing thing is the sheer waste of a good machine, to say I'm gutted would be a massive understatement !
